Creatives

Meet our team of creatives, specialists in design, fabrication and theatrical effects for performance and media environments. Combining multiple disciplines, woodwork, fabrication, engineering and scenic finishing they deliver precise, dependable work built to impress.

Guy Barrett

Guy Barrett is the driving force behind the company, bringing over 30 years of hands-on experience in building world class magic illusions and theatrical props. Guy was immersed in live performance from an early age – son of the renowned Ringmaster Norman Barrett – this shaped his deep understanding of spectacle, timing and audience impact.

Having a career, as an award-winning Magician from an early age, travelling the world with his own touring show and extensive work in theatre gives Guy a rare and unique performer first perspective. This touring experience informs everything he builds, ensuring each illusion and scenic element is not only visually striking but practical, durable, and perfectly suited to life on the road.

Founder

Simon Howarth

Our Mechanical Engineer is a cornerstone of the company, bringing over 30 years’ experience across mechanical and theatrical engineering, fabrication and precision welding. He serves as a trusted design consultant on all engineering matters, ensuring every build is structurally sound, reliable and tour ready. His background working behind the scenes in theatrical productions gives him a rare understanding of performance environments – how props move, how they’re seen and how they integrate seamlessly with theatrical cues. This cross-disciplinary experience allows him to engineer solutions that work flawlessly with venues and support the rhythm, safety and storytelling of any performance.

Katie Wade

Katie brings an artistic eye and practical insight to every project. Educated in art, painting and sculpture she has the ability transform any concept into a visually striking, believable reality.

Natalie

Natalie is a key member of our Art department; she brings the sparkle to the workshop and jumps at the chance to cover things in glitter, she a skilled painter, and began her career in a major theme park. Since going self-employed she has developed a portfolio of detailed scenic finishes, wall murals and with her qualifications in textiles she can adapt to most projects. She combines her knowledge an understanding of materials and surface treatments with a precise, decorative approach to her work.

Andy

One of the joiners responsible for crafting some of our wooden builds. Crafting everything from structural builds to finely detailed carpentry, he is known for his knowledge of materials and construction and sharing extremely long stories, usually just as the kettle boils.

Dave

Our bench joiner is the man you want when something needs building properly – and built to last. Dave has years of experience building sets for TV and theatre, he is also known for putting together skate parks and crafting bespoke furniture pieces. Practical, creative and happiest with a tape measure in hand, he combines serious craftmanship with calm precision to tackle even the trickiest of designs, bringing invaluable skills to the team.

Rizzo

The true heart of the workshop, our Rizzo, a scruffy woof with an impressive CV in morale management and floor supervision. She takes her role very seriously and has an uncanny ability to sit right in the way or roll in the messiest parts of the workshop.

Completely at home amongst theatrical builds, she offers silent judgement, a little mischief, enthusiastic greetings and the occasional bark of approval. Whilst she contributes very little to welding, woodwork or painting the workshop simply wouldn’t function without her loyal companionship and expert overseeing of lunches.
