Our Work
Within our workshop we have a team of people with technical and design expertise, see here what we provide to allow our work to flow seamlessly from concept to creation.
Woodwork
We have a team of highly skilled woodworkers with a diverse experience across the theatre and TV industry, commercial fit outs and wood design. Their combined expertise ensures a high standard of craftmanship, an understanding of both creative intent and practical execution adapting to a wide range of project requirements.
Advanced Fabrication
With vast experience, hands on craftmanship, and our departments working side by side we can solve unique fabrication challenges and produce highly detailed, custom pieces. Our experience allows us to push creative boundaries while maintaining consistency, strength, and a high level of finish.
CNC
The CNC machine allows us to precisely cut, carve and shape materials for prop fabrication. CNC machining allows us to maintain tight tolerances, efficiently scale parts and works hand in hand with our fabrication methods.
Engineering
Underpinning every prop we build our engineering process ensures all our builds are structurally sound and functional. We engineer components to meet specific performance requirements such as strength, weight, balance and assembly constraints. Allowing us to anticipate challenges early, optimize design and deliver reliable builds.
Designing
Alongside working with your own designers or proposals we offer consultation where working from the outset we can offer concept design ideas, visualisations and technical drawings. Our integrated approach allows for efficient collaboration between the design and workshop teams.
Mechanical Controls
We have a depth of experiences building hand operated controls. Using physical mechanisms such as levers, linkages, cams and counterweights can often be more reliable, simpler and durable for fail-safe operation. Reducing the points of failure (eliminating reliance on power or signal) makes them an ideal choice for repeatable actions.
Painting & Finishing
Our Paint department specialises in high quality finishing bringing the props and scenery to life. From surface preparation, priming to custom colour matching, ageing and specialist techniques we focus on achieving the stylisation that the piece requires.
Sculpting
Our sculpture work concentrates on creating detailed, expressive forms that define the character and quality of our props. Using a combination of traditional hand-sculpting techniques, CNC sculpting and digital references, we produce original sculpts, textures and organic shapes that can be moulded, cast or integrated into fabricated structures. This process allows for a high level of artistic control, while maintaining accuracy, consistency and compatibility with production workflows.
3D Printing
Our in-house 3D printing allows us to create complex shapes, lightweight structures, and repeatable parts for high detail results.
Electronics
We can design and build custom electronics; these are tailored to the demands of production and range from DMX based show controls, bespoke lighting to animatronics.
High Quality Materials
Material choices play a critical role in how props perform and age, so we always select the highest-quality materials to suite the project specifications.
SFX
Our sculptural process is designed to adapt seamlessly to special effect applications where form, function and performance must work together. Elements are sculpted with an understanding of mould making, casting, movement and integration with mechanical or electronic systems.
Technical Direction and Consultation
We provide consultation and guidance on lighting, sound, control systems and practical effects to enhance performance and visual impact. When design and building we consider these technical requirements from the outset.
